Biography
Thad is a genre-defying composer, multi-instrumentalist, and music educator based out of Vancouver, B.C.
As a composer, Thad’s works have been performed by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra as part of the Jean Coulthard mentorship program (2024), and the Victoria Symphony as part of the Hugh Davidson reading sessions (2025).
As a performer, Thad’s trumpet playing has been featured on over a dozen albums. He has performed with multiple acts each year in the Vancouver International Jazz Festival since 2018, with Michael Bublé at the 2024 Juno Awards Ceremony, and with numerous Juno award winning and Grammy nominated Canadian musicians. He was recently the recipient of the FACTOR Canada Artist Development Grant, and will soon be releasing his first all-original jazz quartet album.
Thad is also a renown music educator, with many of his former students having become successful professional musicians. Having achieved his Bachelor in Jazz Studies with Distinction from Capilano University, he is currently working through his Master’s Degree in Composition at UBC, studying with Jennifer Butler, and Dorothy Chang.
Outside of music, Thad can be found skiing, kayaking, and in the kitchen cooking for friends and family.
